The Management committe is, through the County Administrative Board's World Heritage site manager, a liaison body vis-à-vis the National Heritage Board, Unesco and other world heritage sites both nationally and internationally.
The management committe is responsible for ensuring that the values of the World Heritage are preserved and that the objectives of the management plan are achieved. The World Heritage Council must work with issues related to the four priority areas in the management plan; Care & conservation, Knowledge development, Public work and Participation & collaboration. The management committe is also responsible for annual follow-up of World Heritage management and reporting to the National Heritage Board and Unesco.
The following parties are part of the World Heritage Council:
- The chairman is the County Governor of Gävleborg County.

- Bollnäs, Ljusdal, Ovanåker, Söderhamn, Hudiksvall and Nordanstig municipalities

The secretary and convener is the World Heritage site manager at the Gävleborg County Administrative Board.
