World heritage
The Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland has existed since 2012, when at its meeting in St. Petersburg, the World Heritage Committee decided to incorporate the farmhouses of Hälsingland into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The UNESCO World Heritage Committee was fully unanimous that the Hälsingland farmhouses have an outstanding universal value. They fill a gap in the World Heritage List, since construction by farmers had previously been underrepresented on the World Heritage List.
Through declaring it a World Heritage Site, the entire world will be able to acquaint itself with Hälsingland’s outstanding culture of construction and decoration.
