2024 Paul Wirsbinski
The 2024 World Heritage Scholarship was awarded to Paul Wiersbinskis, Berlin for his project "THE PERFECT HOUSE". The project connects the World Heritage site Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland with the German World Heritage site Berlin Modernism Housing Estates by weaving together urban Berlin with rural Hälsingland.
– I visited the listed seven Decorated farmhouses that are part of the World Heritage to better understand the differences and similarities between the farms and the Berlin Modernism Housing Estates. While the Decorated farmhouses were built by wealthy farmers in the countryside, the housing estates in Berlin were built to house the working class in an urban environment. However, both of these World Heritage sites were built not only to be functional, but also to be beautiful and pleasant places to live, says Paul Wierbinski, recipient of the 2024 World Heritage Scholarship.
The project was inspired by the idea of moving through a perfect house and aesthetically connecting with the historical memory and resulted in a film. Watch the mobie The Perfect house.
