(Folk Theatre Gävleborg)

Folkteatern Gävleborg was founded in 1980 and is a foundation with Region Gävleborg as the main financier. The core for the organisation is a small permanent ensemble that strives to work closely with local people and issues that are relevant here and now. Folkteatern Gävleborg has the objective of being an inclusive meeting place for creativity that reflects on the present world. It should create artistic contexts to enable unexpected relationships to be made as well as new activities and projects. By interacting with the surrounding changing society, it aims to contribute to increasing people’s power and opportunities to influence their own lives as well as increase their participation in the county’s social life. A prerequisite for the theatre to work in this way is that it operates throughout Gävleborg. In its ongoing work, it is important that Folkteatern Gävleborg further develops various opportunities for audiences to participate in the institution’s various activities. Folkteatern Gävleborg will also continue the work together with Riksteatern Gävleborg (the National Theatre Gävleborg) to develop regional event organisers.
